Fairchild AFB: Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall

The Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall was a very memorable project that never got highlighted on our blog. Though it's been 3 years since the wallpaper, dimensional letters, and statues went up, with the war now winding down, we still remember the eight Security Forces members who gave their lives during operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Signs for Success owner John Bogensberger described the project in these words:
"It’s not often as civilians that we get a glimpse into the lives of those who serve to protect our country. While this project was a lot of fun to put together, it was also a very sobering experience.
"Sgt. Michael Bradshaw of the OIF/OEF Security Forces Unit, headquartered at Fairchild Air Force Base, contacted Signs for Success for solutions to create a memorial for those in their unit who had made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country. Designer Heidi Branch created the initial layout and artwork for the display. “There are many components that had to be incorporated into the project, creating unique challenges,” Heidi said.
"The background is custom printed Type II commercial wallpaper. The wallpaper was printed with our large format printer in 54” panels. The UV Curable inks have great durability and the material is easily washable. Signs for Success contracted Gail Fleming of Gail Fleming Wallpapering to install the panels, and we provided and installed the cast aluminum letters across the top of the display. Additionally, Signs for Success provided and installed the dark wood frame. The individual stone plaques for each Fallen Hero, and the custom-made bronze statue were procured separately by the Air Force.
"Most of us have seen the statue with boots, M-16, and helmet. The statue in this display utilizes boots, M-4 carbine and beret, reflective of the security forces represented. Signs for Success is proud to have played a part in helping to create this memorial to our Fallen Heroes. We as a community and a country should be extremely thankful and proud of the eight young men who currently appear on the wall. Please keep our boys that are still over there, on the ground, in your prayers."
